Walkolution builds the office of the future

Too much sitting makes you sick. This is now well known. The entrepreneur duo Dr. Eric Söhngen and Frank Ackermann take a preventative approach against the negative consequences of sitting and rethink the office as we know it today.

Project information

Under the brand Walkolution they developed a comprehensive workstation system, whose core is a silent “treadmill for the office”. Working while walking. The concept has already found many followers who value the healthy and activating work experience. The main material: BauBuche by Pollmeier.

From hunter-gatherer to office-man

Our body is designed to move. Walkolution co-founder and physician Dr. Eric Söhngen has dedicated himself as a senior medical doctor, book author and scientist to researching the health effects of lack of movement and together, with the Bavarian-based Georg Ackermann GmbH developed the innovative furniture collection and launched it on the market.

Söhngen explains: “The normal (office)-day inevitably forces us to sit for hours. The resulting health consequences are, in addition to back pain, an increased risk of diabetes, obesity, heart disease, stroke and cancer. In addition, the sedentary person is more prone to depression and dementia.”

Working while walking

To enable working while walking, Walkolution system differs substantially from known fitness-type treadmills. It works completely without power, is silent and is intuitively driven by the user. A backrest and a folding seat module also allow easy switching between different working modes. A comprehensive collection of desks and conference tables made of Pollmeier BauBuche complete the range.
