The client wanted to create a bespoke library in a flat in a historic building in the centre of Rennes. This wish was born of the impossibility of adapting new furniture to a flat with steeply sloping floors, walls with mouldings and an imposing fireplace. Freed from these constraints, we incorporated them to design a suspended bookcase on the top and bottom sections, while integrating the fireplace lintel to give a fully-fledged furniture effect. This is what makes this piece of furniture so charming and original.
Baubuche multi-layered wood was the obvious choice to emphasise this airy, linear effect. Made from metal rings made to measure by a locksmith and assembled on site by the joiner, the furniture blends perfectly into the room for maximum capacity and an airy effect.
The little extra: connected LED lighting strips.
