Responsibility for Forests, Climate, and Society
For over 300 years, the principle of sustainable forestry has been a fundamental part of forest management in Germany. This globally pioneering concept originated in Germany and remains enshrined in law through the Federal Forest Act. Sustainability is therefore not only a tradition but also an obligation.
The responsible use of wood, our most important renewable resource, helps preserve natural ecosystems. At the same time, the use of wood enables a sustainable economic transformation by replacing fossil-based and energy-intensive materials such as steel, concrete, and plastic, thus supporting the transition to a more environmentally friendly future.
The great advantage of wood products lies in their ability to store the carbon bound in the wood throughout their entire lifespan, actively contributing to climate protection. In this way, we make a significant contribution to combating climate change and driving the transition toward a sustainable, ecologically balanced, and economically viable society.
We are part of the “HolzRettetKlima” (“WoodSavesClimate”) campaign, emphasizing the importance of forests and sustainable wood use in the fight against climate change. Our goal is to raise awareness in society about the diverse ecological and economic benefits of using wood. One thing is clear: the transition to sustainability can only succeed if we use our regional, renewable resources wisely and responsibly.
